Lip Tattoo & Lip Blush

Soft, healed colour that reads as your own lip. Shade, shape and saturation are planned against your natural tone before a single needle is opened.

Consultation and patch test come first. Pigment is never mixed on the day of an appointment you have not agreed to.

  • Single use, opened in front of you

Needles, cartridges and pigment cups are unsealed at the chair and discarded at the end of your appointment.

  • Patch test before pigment

A sensitivity test is offered at consultation so there is time to react before the treatment date is held.

  • Shade mapped to your lip

Colour is chosen against your own undertone in daylight, not selected from a printed chart on a wall.

  • Written aftercare and a check in

You leave with a printed healing plan, and a message arrives on day three when most questions appear.

01 / Approach

Colour is a correction, not a coat

Lips are living tissue with a bias of their own. Cool, grey or melanin rich lips will pull a warm pigment blue as they heal, which is why a shade that looked correct in the mirror can settle into something you never chose. The work starts by reading that bias, then answering it.

Every appointment begins with an assessment: natural lip tone, border definition, scar tissue, previous pigment, and how much of your lip line has softened over time. Only then is a colour built.

Some lips need warmth added before any blush can hold. Some need old work neutralised first, across more than one session. Both are said out loud at consultation, with dates and cost, before anything is booked.

What the studio does

Six services, one discipline. Each is quoted after an assessment, because the same request can need a very different plan on two different lips.

01

Lip Tattoo

Full definition and colour through the lip body. For borders that have lost their edge and lips that read pale without makeup.

02

Lip Blush

The softest option. A wash of tone with a diffused edge, closer to a tint than a lipstick, built in light passes.

03

Lip Neutralisation

Warm pigment placed first to cancel cool or grey tone, so the colour chosen afterwards can heal true.

Treatment detail

04

Dark Lip Neutralisation

A staged plan for melanin rich lips. Usually two to three sessions, spaced, with the shade reassessed each time.

05

Lip Colour Correction

For work from elsewhere that healed orange, mauve or patchy. Assessed in person, because photographs hide saturation.

06

Lip Tattoo Touch Up

The second pass, six to eight weeks after healing, where saturation is topped and any soft spot is closed.

Treatment detail

Pigment removal by laser or saline is not performed in studio. Where removal is the honest answer, you are referred to a practitioner who does it, and the studio picks the work back up once the tissue has settled.

04 / Process

How lip tattoo works

Eight stages from first message to healed colour. Stages one to four happen before any pigment is opened.

  1. 01

    Consultation

Medical history, medications, cold sore history and what you want the lip to do without makeup.

  2. 02

    Lip Assessment

Natural tone, undertone bias, border condition, scarring and any existing pigment are read in daylight.

  3. 03

    Colour Selection

A shade is built to answer your undertone, then tested against your skin rather than a chart.

  4. 04

    Shape Planning

The border is drawn and adjusted with you sitting upright, mirror in hand, until you approve it.

  5. 05

    Tattoo Treatment

Numbing, then pigment in light passes. Two to three hours for a first session, breaks included.

  6. 06

    Initial Healing

Colour looks bold, then dries and flakes. Aftercare protects the tissue while it closes.

  7. 07

    Healed Result

True colour returns between weeks four and six, softer than day one by a noticeable margin.

  8. 08

    Touch Up

Booked after the healed review, to top saturation and close anything the skin did not hold.

Why clients come here

  • A

You are told when the answer is no

Active cold sores, recent filler, isotretinoin, pregnancy and some autoimmune conditions push the date back. That is said at consultation, not on the day.

  • B

    One artist, start to finish

The person who assesses your lip is the person who tattoos it and the person who reviews the healed result.

  • C

Plans are staged, not promised in one visit

Neutralisation and correction take sessions. You are given the likely number and the spacing before you pay a deposit.

  • D

    Documented in the file

Shade formula, needle configuration, batch numbers and healing notes are kept, so year two can match year one.

  • E

    No result claims without proof

Photographs are matched for light and angle. Nothing is retouched, and nothing is published without written consent.

06 / Healing

Healing and aftercare

Most disappointment with lip tattoo happens in week two, when the colour looks like it has gone. It has not. This is the sequence.

Day 1 to 2

Lips are swollen and the colour reads two shades darker than agreed. Sleep slightly elevated, blot rather than wipe, keep the barrier balm thin.

Day 3 to 5

Tightness and flaking begin at the outer border. Nothing is picked or exfoliated. Hot drinks through a straw, no spicy food, no swimming.

Day 6 to 10

The flake lifts and colour looks pale, patchy or almost absent. This stage is expected. Pigment is still settling under fresh tissue.

Week 4 to 6

True healed colour is visible and can be judged. This is when the review photograph is taken and the touch up is planned.

07 / Questions

Before you book

If your question is not answered here, send it through the consultation form. Written answers come back before you are asked for a deposit.

Does lip tattoo hurt

Lips are sensitive, and most people describe the sensation as a firm vibrating scratch rather than sharp pain. Topical numbing is applied before the first pass and refreshed during the appointment once the skin is open. Comfort is checked at every break, and the session can be paused at any point.

How long does lip blush last

Colour usually holds between one and three years, then softens gradually. Lifestyle changes this a great deal: sun exposure, smoking, exfoliating acids, high turnover skin and frequent lip filler all shorten it. A refresh appointment restores tone without repeating the full build.

Can dark or bluish lips be corrected

In most cases yes, through neutralisation. Warm pigment is placed to counter the cool bias, and the corrective shade follows in a later session once the first has healed. Melanin rich lips are planned across two or three appointments, and the number is estimated at your assessment rather than guessed here.

I have had lip tattoo somewhere else, can you work over it

Bring photographs in daylight, and come in for an in person assessment. Old pigment sets the ceiling on what a new colour can do, and some work has to be lightened before anything is added. If removal is the honest first step, you will be told and referred.

Do I need a patch test

A patch test is offered at consultation and recommended if you have reacted to cosmetics, hair dye or metals before. It is placed behind the ear or on the inner arm and read after the waiting period, which is why consultation and treatment sit on separate days.

When can I wear lipstick again

Once the flaking has finished and the surface has closed fully, typically around day ten to fourteen. Until then, nothing pigmented, nothing exfoliating and no lip products with acids or strong fragrance.

08 / Next step

Book a consultation

Bring bare lips, daylight and any photographs of previous work. You will leave with a shade direction, a plan and a written quote.

Consultations are booked by form so that medical history and photographs arrive before you do.
