07 — LIP TATTOO CORRECTION

When a previous
lip tattoo isn't
what you hoped for.

Lip tattoo correction is specialist colour correction for earlier lip tattoos that have healed with an unwanted tone, an uneven finish or a border that doesn’t sit right. At our Melbourne studio, it always begins with a consultation, not a needle.

BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE — A SHORT CHECKLIST

Start with
what's there now.

Clear photos of your lips in daylight, with no lipstick or gloss.

Roughly when your previous lip tattoo was done, if you know.

What bothers you most: the colour, the border, patchiness or fading.

Any health information you’d like to raise before treatment.

Photos help us prepare. You’re welcome to email them to [email protected] after you send your enquiry.

STEP ONE — ASSESSMENT

Reading the
existing pigment.

Correction starts with looking closely. A previous lip tattoo can heal warmer, cooler, patchier or heavier than you expected, and every one is different. At your consultation, we assess what’s in the skin now before discussing anything new.

COLOUR — HOW THE OLD PIGMENT HAS HEALED

BORDER — WHERE THE LINE SITS AGAINST YOUR NATURAL SHAPE

DENSITY — HOW EVENLY THE PIGMENT IS HOLDING

SKIN — THE CONDITION OF YOUR LIPS TODAY

Then comes a frank conversation. Sometimes a carefully chosen pigment can help balance an unwanted tone and soften an uneven result. Sometimes it can’t, and we’ll tell you so plainly rather than add colour that may not help. Our aim is a natural-looking result that respects your features, and that sometimes means suggesting a different path.

LIMITATIONS — READ BEFORE BOOKING

The limits,
plainly.

01

No outcome
is guaranteed.

Existing pigment behaves differently in every client. Results vary between individuals, and healing and pigment retention can’t be promised.

02

More than one
session may be needed.

Correction is often gradual. We can’t set a fixed number of sessions in advance, because it depends on how your lips respond.

03

Removal may be
discussed instead.

If the old pigment is too dense or the tone too strong to balance, we may talk through Lip Tattoo Removal first.

QUESTIONS — CORRECTION OR REMOVAL

Questions worth
asking first.

Can a new colour simply cover my old lip tattoo?

Not usually in the way people imagine. Correction works with the pigment already there, which is why we assess it before choosing anything.

Will the colour look right straight after treatment?

Fresh pigment often looks brighter or darker than the final result, and the healed colour develops gradually. Our guide Why Fresh Lip Colour Isn’t the Final Result explains more.

Is correction safe for me?

Cosmetic lip tattooing is a skin-penetration procedure. We follow infection control and give you the required health information before treatment, in line with Victorian requirements. Read Safety, Suitability & Risks and Healing & Aftercare before you book.

Who will assess my lips?

Consultations are led by Olha Po, Founder & Certified Cosmetic Tattoo Artist, working in cosmetic tattooing since 2016.

Not sure whether correction or removal suits you? That’s exactly what a consultation is for. We’ll look at your lips, talk through your options and give you a free quote, with no pressure to go ahead.
