GUIDE — HEALING & AFTERCARE

Healing,
in its
own time.

Healing after cosmetic lip tattooing is personal. Your lips will look different in the first days than they will once healed, and the way colour settles varies from one client to the next. This guide covers what to expect in general terms, how to care for your lips, and when to get in touch with us or a healthcare professional.

01

Fresh colour is
not the final colour.

Straight after treatment, pigment often looks brighter or darker than it will once healed. That’s expected. The healed colour develops gradually as your lips settle, so the first days aren’t a fair preview of your result.

We’d encourage you to hold off judging the shade until you’ve healed, and to talk to us if something is worrying you rather than wondering on your own.

02

Aftercare
principles.

These are general principles. Your own aftercare instructions, given at your appointment, always come first.

INSTRUCTIONS — FOLLOW THE ONES WE GIVE YOU

You’ll receive aftercare guidance written for your treatment. Follow it over anything general you read online, including this page.

HANDS — LEAVE THE AREA ALONE

Avoid picking, peeling or rubbing your lips while they heal. Touching the area with unwashed hands adds unnecessary infection risk.

PRODUCTS — ONLY WHAT WE RECOMMEND

Apply only the products we’ve recommended for your healing lips. If you’re unsure whether something is suitable, ask us before using it.

PATIENCE — LET COLOUR SETTLE

Healing and pigment retention vary from person to person and can’t be guaranteed. Give your lips time before deciding how you feel about the result.

03 — WHEN TO GET IN TOUCH

Talk to us when…

— you have a question about your aftercare instructions

— your colour looks lighter, darker or less even than you expected as it heals

— you’re wondering whether an additional session may help

— you’d like anything about your treatment explained again

MEDICAL CONCERNS — SEEK QUALIFIED ADVICE

See a healthcare
professional when…

If you have a medical concern, such as a possible infection, an allergic reaction or a change that doesn’t feel right, please seek advice from a doctor or another qualified healthcare professional. If it feels urgent, seek care straight away.

We specialise in cosmetic lip tattooing. We aren’t medical practitioners, and we can’t diagnose or treat medical conditions. Once you’ve been looked after, you’re welcome to let us know too.

04 — REVIEW & ADDITIONAL SESSIONS

Once you've healed,
we look again.

After healing, we look at how your colour has settled and talk through whether anything further is worthwhile. Some treatments may need an additional session to refine colour or evenness.

This is more common with specialist work like lip tattoo correction, lip tattoo removal and dark lip neutralisation, because every starting point is different. We can’t tell you in advance how many sessions you’ll need, but we’ll always be straightforward about what we see.
