STUDIO — MELBOURNE, BY APPOINTMENT
A lipstick effect tattoo is cosmetic lip tattooing that places a fuller, more saturated colour across the lips, for clients who’d like to rely less on daily lipstick.

THE TREATMENT — IN PLAIN TERMS
Where lip blush enhances your natural tone and aquarelle lips gives a sheer, diffused wash, the lipstick effect is the fuller end of the range. Pigment is placed across the whole lip for a more noticeable, lipstick-like colour.
It still isn’t a stamp. We look at your lip shape, your natural colour and your skin tone before anything is decided. Many clients come to us because they’re tired of reapplying lipstick through the day, or because their natural colour looks pale or uneven. Our aim is a lipstick look that still belongs to your face.
01
OBSERVE
Your underlying lip tone affects how any pigment reads, so we look at it closely in daylight, along with your border and any previous tattoo.
02
DISCUSS
Bring your favourite shades. They tell us how bold you like your colour on a normal day, which is a better guide than a trend.
03
SUITABILITY
Lip tattooing is a skin-penetration procedure. Before treatment we go through the safety, suitability and risks information with you.
04
DECIDE
We agree on a pigment together and talk honestly about how it may heal on you. The full sequence is set out in The Fitting.
FRESH — BRIGHTER OR DARKER
HEALED — SETTLES GRADUALLY
With a fuller colour, this matters even more. Fresh pigment often looks brighter or darker than the result you’ll live with, and the healed colour develops gradually. How it settles, and how much pigment is retained, varies from person to person.
That’s why we choose colour with the healed result in mind rather than the first impression. Our guide to fresh and healed colour and our healing and aftercare page explain what to expect.
BEFORE YOU BOOK — WORTH KNOWING
Results vary. Your skin, natural lip colour and healing all shape the outcome, so no particular shade or finish can be guaranteed.
Retention can’t be guaranteed. Pigment fades over time, and we don’t promise how long it will last.
More than one session may be needed. A touch-up is sometimes part of reaching the colour you planned.
It’s a tattoo, not a filler. We don’t offer injectables or lip augmentation. For those, please see a qualified healthcare professional.
Previous tattoo? Older colour may need lip tattoo correction before a fuller colour is placed over it.
