20 — FINE LINE, ON THE LIP

A fine line,
measured
to your border.

Lip Tattoo is a Melbourne studio dedicated to cosmetic lip tattooing, so at our studio fine-line work means one thing: a fine, precise border, carried out as part of our Lip Liner Tattoo treatment. It’s for clients whose natural border has softened or faded, or is hard to see, and who want definition that still looks like their own. We plan it around your lip shape, tone and symmetry, not a template.

FITTING — THREE DECISIONS

What a fine
line has to
get right.

Close-up beauty portrait showing natural pink lips, the nose, cheeks and chin against a soft mint-green background.

REFERENCE — NATURAL LIP BORDER AND TONE, STOCK IMAGE

WEIGHT — HOW FINE

A fine line should define the border without reading as a drawn outline. We decide how soft or crisp the edge looks, so it frames your lips rather than sitting on top of them.

PLACEMENT — WHERE THE LINE SITS

We follow your natural lip line closely and look at symmetry, corners and the cupid’s bow. The aim is balance and a cleaner edge, not a new shape.

COLOUR — CHOSEN FOR YOUR TONE

We choose the pigment to suit your natural lip colour and skin tone. If you’d also like colour across the lip, a fine border often pairs with Lip Blush Tattoo. If definition is all you want, Lip Liner Tattoo covers contour work in more depth.

01

Observe

We look at your natural colour, border, symmetry and any previous lip tattoo.

02

Discuss

Before treatment, we go through suitability, possible risks and the health information required in Victoria.

03

Decide

Together we agree on line weight, placement and pigment, with no particular outcome promised.

04

Treat & heal

Treatment follows infection-control practices, and then the colour settles gradually. See the full consultation process.

HEALING — COLOUR SETTLES

The first look
isn't the last.

A fresh line often looks brighter, darker or bolder than the result you’ll end up with, and the healed colour develops gradually. Healing and pigment retention vary from person to person, and a fine line may need another session to look even. Our Healing & Aftercare guide explains what to look out for.

SAFETY — BEFORE YOU BOOK

A skin-penetration
procedure.

Cosmetic lip tattooing breaks the skin, so it isn’t right for everyone, and it isn’t risk-free. We give you health and safety information before treatment, in line with Victorian public health requirements. We don’t offer lip fillers, injectables or medical treatment for lip conditions. For those, please see a qualified healthcare professional. Read more in Safety, Suitability & Risks.

QUESTIONS — FINE LINE

Before
you ask.

Do you do fine line tattoos elsewhere on the body?

Our studio is dedicated to cosmetic lip tattooing, and this page is only about fine line work on the lip border.

Will the line look natural?

Natural-looking definition is what we plan for, using your own border and tone. Results do vary between individuals, though, so we can’t guarantee a particular look.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your lips and what you’d like done. We offer a free quote, so you can start with a consultation.

Can a fine line fix an old lip tattoo?

Not always. If an older tattoo has unwanted colour, Lip Tattoo Correction or Lip Tattoo Removal may need to come first. Each has its own limits. More answers are in our Lip Tattoo FAQs.

Not sure whether a fine border, lip blush or Aquarelle Lips suits you? Bring your questions to the studio, and Olha Po, our Founder & Certified Cosmetic Tattoo Artist, will talk you through your options. Olha has worked in cosmetic tattooing since 2016.
