SERVICE 15 — BALANCED APPEARANCE

Balance,
not sameness.

Very few lips are perfectly even, and they don’t need to be. When we talk about a balanced appearance, we mean cosmetic lip tattooing that evens out what distracts you, such as a faded corner, a patchy tone or a border that disappears on one side, while keeping the shape and character that are already yours.

01 — WHAT WE BALANCE

Three things
we measure
by eye.

Balance is rarely about one feature. It’s how colour, edge and proportion sit together across your face. We look at all three before suggesting any technique.

COLOUR — EVENNESS OF TONE

Uneven or patchy colour

Where natural lip colour is lighter in some areas, a soft wash of pigment can help the tone read as one. For many clients this is lip blush tattoo; darker areas may need dark lip neutralisation first.

BORDER — DEFINED, NOT DRAWN

An edge that fades on one side

Gentle definition along your own natural line can make the shape feel more even, without the hard outline of a pencil. Read more about lip liner tattoo.

PROPORTION — RESPECTED, NOT REDRAWN

Previous work that pulls the eye

If an earlier lip tattoo has left colour or shape that feels off-balance, lip tattoo correction or lip tattoo removal may be worth discussing before anything new is added.

02 — HOW IT’S PLANNED

The fitting,
in three
parts.

The full sequence is set out in our consultation process.

01

Observe and discuss

We look at your natural colour, border and symmetry, and any previous tattoo. You’ll receive health and suitability information before any treatment, in line with Victorian requirements.

02

Decide and treat

Together we choose a technique and pigment suited to your tone. Lip tattooing is a skin-penetration procedure, carried out at our Melbourne studio with infection control practices in place.

03

Heal and review

Colour settles gradually as your lips heal. Once it has, we look at the balance again, and some clients need another session to even things out.

03 — WHAT TO EXPECT

Fresh colour
isn't the
final balance.

Straight after treatment, pigment often looks brighter or darker than it will once healed, and one side can seem stronger for a while. Healed colour develops gradually, so it’s worth judging balance only after healing. Our guide to fresh and healed colour and healing and aftercare pages explain more.

LIMITS — EVEN, NOT IDENTICAL

Your two sides can be brought into better balance, but they can’t be made identical. Lips are naturally asymmetrical, and lip tattooing works with your own shape: it can soften visible unevenness in colour and edge, but it doesn’t change the structure or volume of your lips. Results vary between individuals, healing and pigment retention can’t be guaranteed, and some clients need an additional session to even things out.

We don’t offer lip fillers, injectables or medical treatment for lip conditions. If that’s what you’re looking for, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional. See safety, suitability and risks for more.

04 — QUESTIONS

Before
you book.

More answers are on our lip tattoo FAQs page.

Is this a separate treatment?

Balance is a goal rather than a single technique. Depending on your lips, it may be reached through lip blush, liner work, neutralisation or correction, sometimes combined. We’ll recommend an approach at consultation.

Will it look natural?

Natural-looking results are our focus. Pigment is chosen for your tone and placed along your own lip line. Healed results still vary from person to person.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what your lips need. We offer a free quote, so you’ll know where you stand before deciding.

Who will do my treatment?

Olha Po, our Founder & Certified Cosmetic Tattoo Artist, has worked in cosmetic tattooing since 2016, and our studio has welcomed more than 2,000 clients. Read about Olha.
